FAQ
-
Q. My child is 1.6 years ....is she too young to start school or should we wait until she turns two?A. School isn't just about learning... At St.Stephen's Play-School & Daycare, we focus on the holistic development of children, including cognitive, language, social/emotional, physical, and spiritual development. At 1.6, the emphasis is on peer engagement and social skill development.
-
Q. Do you follow the Play way method of teaching or the Montessori Method?A. At St.Play-School Stephen's & Daycare, we think that there is no single optimal way for all children to learn...so we've blended the best practices of all theorists to make learning interesting, entertaining, and meaningful. Maria Montessori developed her teaching method over a lengthy period of time. We now have access to a wide range of neuroscience results that we should put to good use. These findings reveal a lot about motivation, learning hooks, and how the brain connects with, learns, and remembers information at its finest.

Q. Do children get to do physical activities?A. Activities to improve the fine and big muscles are done during the day because we believe in the holistic development of children. To build fine muscles, for example, play with dough, thread beads, or scribble with crayons. Gross motor activities like hopping in a circle, crawling through a tunnel, and so on are used to strengthen the major muscles. We do utilise a perceptual-motor training programme. Physical activity has an influence on children's brain development and academic learning later in life. Cross-lateral motions, for example, are used by children to undertake creative activities by crossing their body lines. Concepts are also reviewed by hopping in a circle or stepping on letter patterns on the floor.
-
Q. In which language do the teachers communicate with children?A. Our primary means of communication is English; however, teachers may communicate in Hindi to help children feel at ease and settle in.
-
Q. What about potty training, since my child is not potty trained? Who accompanies children to the washroom?A. It is quite OK if your youngster has not yet learned to use the toilet. Children are sent to the restroom at regular intervals to assist them to avoid soiling their clothes and developing the habit of using the restroom only when necessary. Hence, we ask parents to have their children wear diapers. Children are accompanied to the restroom by their co-teachers and support workers.
-
Q. What do you do in case of illness/tie-ups with any doctor or hospital?A. It is standard practice for parents to refrain from sending sick children to school. Any sickness that lasts more than three days needs a doctor's the fitness/medical certificate, without which the children will not be permitted to attend class. In addition, every youngster who is sick or has a fever at school is sent home. In the event of an injury, accident, or other occurrences, the children get urgent 1st Aid at school, and their parents are notified swiftly. If the parents request that their physician be contacted in an emergency, this is done; otherwise, the children are sent to a nearby clinic.
